Manager Shaun Derry has said that nobody has thrown in the towel so he encourages fans not to do the same when it comes to us avoiding relegation this season.

A disappointing run of back to back defeats, especially the position we were in during the Shrewsbury game has deflated a lot of people, but Derry told the Official Site that he was still confident we could get ourselves out of this mess.

‘This is exactly what I knew I’d be inheriting and I said from day one that this would not be an easy job. It’s a job that I feel very capable of doing every single day – my standards are high and I expect everyone else to follow those standards. If they do we’ll stay up and we’ll get out of it.’

Derry goes on to say that he stands by his original statement that these players are good enough to avoid the drop and he continues to believe that they are, but they need to reach the standards regularly that they have shown they are capable of doing it and if they do, we can do this.

But it’s in their hands.

‘This is probably the biggest battle of their careers, because everybody’s now at cross points. There’s players out of contract and players that need to stay at this level to get another club – this is it, it’s judgement time for them.’

Rotherham will be no easy task as we look to get back to winning ways, but we are certainly capable if we perform how we can.
