Notts County made the decision to relieve Craig Short of his managerial duties at the weekend, following the defeat at Colchester.

Short, who has only been in charge since June, and his assistant Dave Kevan were sacked with County sitting in 16th place in the league one table.

This decision was made, as a statement on the official website confirmed, following a board meeting that felt it was in the clubs best interests to do this: ‘First-team manager Craig Short and assistant manager Dave Kevan have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.

‘Following a board meeting convened this morning, the board decided to review the current status of the first team. Following this review it was decided to make changes to the first-team management.

‘The board wishes to thank them both for all of their endeavours while at Notts County and wish them well for the future.

‘There will be no further statement at this time.’
