UEFA A Licence coach, South African Andy McMillan has been appointed as our new Head of Academy Coaching.

As well as good coaching experience, he also had a long and successful playing career and will now take charge of the Youth teams to nurture the next generation.

Speaking to the Official Site after being appointed to the role, he said he wanted to instil a winning mentality in the youngsters, but by playing football not hoofball.

‘Playing football for me is vital because I’ve been at clubs where there’s been a change and they’ve wanted to go more direct, which is not in my philosophy. I want it to be a passing game and I want them to be comfortable on the ball, but at the end of the day you’ve got to score goals.’

McMillan says it’s obvious that teams need to go forward so they can try and win games, but what matters is how teams go forward to attack.
