Notts County had Roy Carroll, once again, to thank for the three-points collected at the weekend.

A late penalty save by Carroll, added of course to a earlier strike we managed, secured us a 1-0 win over Gillingham at Meadow Lane on Saturday afternoon.

As half time approached Shaun Harrad (35) headed a Jake Cassidy cross past Stephen Bywater, to give us the lead that we took into half time thanks to the crossbar, which kept our Gillingham man Doug Loft’s 25-yard drive.

In the second half Cody McDonald almost levelled for the visitors again but his effort was cleared off the line by Louis Laing.

Pushing for an equaliser allowed us to push on with the counter-attack as both Gary Jones and Garry Thompson threatened to add a decisive second, but it couldn’t come.

With just 10-minutes left to play, when Bradley Dack was fouled by Laing, Gillingham had a penalty and a chance to salvage a point. Luke Norris stepped up but Carroll was the hero again as he saved the striker penalty to secure our one-nil win.
