Notts County have today announced the short term signing of former Huddersfield Town striker James Spencer.

The highly rated 22 year old has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until the summer, where things can then be assessed depending on how he adjusts to life at the club.

He was released by his former club ahead of the closure of the January transfer window, so he is able to register with us as a free agent.

Spencer has been handed the No 16 shirt for the remainder of the campaign and he goes into contention to make his debut in the game against Coventry City this weekend.

Since signing his contract at Huddersfield he has spent time on loan at Brentford, Crawley and Scunthorpe and in his career so far as notched up nine starting appearances, with a further eleven from the bench and has scored once in that time – which came during his spell at Scunthorpe in the first part of this season, where he has made 16 of his appearances.
