Maidenhead United striker Alex Wall was hoping to be a Notts County player by now but according to the non league outfit, Notts have pulled out of the deal because of “things going on behind the scenes at Meadow Lane.”

Notts had already done all the hard work, they had negotiated a price, built the lad up ready for a move and then pulled out of the deal for the 20 year old.

Their boss, Johnson Hippolyte, revealed last week that a bid had been accepted for the 20-year-old.

But now it appears the deal has fallen through.

He said: “The deal hasn`t gone through and I`m gutted for the lad.

“We want to make it known that it`s nothing to do with finance.

“We were made an offer which we accepted, but things behind the scenes at Notts County have meant it hasn`t gone through.

“It`s left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths to be honest.”
