Notts County manager Martin Allen was delighted with his side after watching them come from being 2-1 down to win the game 3-2 against Scunthorpe.

Krystian Pearce gave the Magpies the lead but Iron were level and then in front early in the second half thanks to Andy Barcham and Bobby Grant.

But things turned the Magpies way when Oliver Norwood was shown a straight red card for his lunge on Jeff Hughes.

County wasted no time in pulling level trough Hughes four minutes after the sending off before Julian Kelly made sure of the points with just eight minutes left on the clock.

‘I didn’t think we played very well in the first half – we didn’t play the type of football I like us to play. I was disappointed and I really do not like making two changes at half-time,’ Allen said.

‘It’s not my style but we were too slow in our passing and we weren’t getting on the ball enough to play good football and create.

‘In the second half I thought we stepped it up big time. We were far more tenacious in our tackling, we were speedier in our passing across the grass and started to move the opposition around which allowed us to get our full-backs forward.

‘To go 2-1 down and to come back and win 3-2 after not playing well in the first half was absolutely outstanding.’
