Hughes On Target Again As Notts Beat Dale

Lee Hughes netted his sixth goal of the season to help Notts County on their was to a 2-0 win over Rochdale that lifted them into fourth place in the table.

Ben Burgess proved to be a handful for the Dale defence, it wasn`t long before he got a header in that went just wide of the target after being set up by Alan Judge.

The first goal came in the 35th minute and it was that man Burgess who had a hand in it buy passing the ball through to Hughes who cooly fired into the bottom corner for 1-0.

Rochdale didn`t offer much but they did have a shot from Gary Jones go just wide when he let fly from outside of the area.

Notts always looked like adding to the score in the second half, Alan Sheehan went close but Jake Kean saved his effort and then Kean had to be alert to get to the ball first after Judge had been played through.

Montano then went close as the game drew to a close before Sam Sodje made sure of the points when he glanced home a Sheehan free kick.
