Notts Take On Charlton

Notts County manager Martin Allen must be hoping his side can produce the same sort of committment to the cause that they did on Tuesday night when they gave neighbors Forest one hell of a scare.

It was only luck that kept Forest in the competition rather than themselves and surely if they can do it again, then Charlton will be in for a rough time of it.

Vital Quotes:

Chris Powell – Charlton manager “We look forward to the Notts County to the game, which will be a good test for us away from home, but we know we can`t just say we`ve cracked it after one game at home.

“We want to pick up the majority of points at home, but you do have to try and marry that with some good away performances. We have two tough games coming up in Notts County and Colchester, but they`re tests I think we can come through.

“(Martin Allen) is a positive man. Whatever club he is at he will look for the best points for his team and portray that out to everyone, which is right.

“We know we`re in for a tough game. They performed heroically against Forest which was a big game for them being a local derby and everything that comes with it.

“It was a dramatic game and I`m sure they`ll be looking to recover right from that and be ready for our game. But we know and I know that any game against a Martin Allen-led team is a tough proposition.

“We`re going to make sure we`re ready for that, stand up to that, play our game, impose ourselves and match them for any tempo and intensity they bring. We`ve got to go there in good spirits and good heart and impose ourselves from minute one.”

Notts County Team News:

Notts County are likely to be unchanged for this game after beating Charlton and then lmost winning at Forest.

Stephen Hunt is ruled out with an ankle injury and striker Ben Burgess is also out with an ankle problem.

Alan Judge also has a hamstring problem, and so is a doubt.

Player to watch: Lee Hughes

If he can stay fit, he looks like putting in a fine season in front of goal.

Charlton Team News:

Winger Green could make his first appearance since joining from Dagenham having been suspended last weekend following a red card at the end of last season.

Veteran striker Euell rejoined the Addicks this week and could make his second debut, having made made 155 appearances and scored 37 goals in his first spell at The Valley.

However, both are likely to be on the bench at best after Charlton opened the season with an impressive 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Boss Chris Powell will check on new goalkeeper Ben Hamer, who missed out on a debut against the Cherries with a slight thumb injury.

Rob Elliot got the nod in goal despite failing to agree a new contract recently.

Player to watch: Paul Benson

Sods law says he needs to be watched, Notts missed out on signing the player in the summer, he’s bound to be keen to show Notts what they missed.
