Notts County have said they will consider legal action after having to attend the High Court today to swot a winding up petition.

The charge related to monies owed on December 19, but the club informed HMRC that it would be paid later than that date, and that was held to, leaving the club owing the taxman not a penny.

However the club learned that HMRC had continued with the Court process regardless, meaning a wasted trip to the High Court to watch HMRC ask for the petition to be dismissed, in a hearing that lasted less than 20 seconds.

County had already called the action ‘disruptive and damaging’ and they are now considering their position for damages for the harm suffered by the football club, and the costs of attending the dismissal of the petition.
