Manager Shaun Derry has admitted that their is a little sense of disappointment following our draw against Oldham yesterday.

The scoreless draw was our third successive draw in League One and whilst admitting we can certainly play better than we did and that’s what he was disappointed about, the gaffer told the Official Site that he was delighted with how the team dug in.

‘I think if we’re honest with ourselves, we’d say we were a little disappointing, but at the same time you’d asked me a week ago if we’d have played three teams and conceded one goal I’d have snapped your hand off with that.’

Derry goes on to say that County are what they are, he references the fact we don’t have a Jack Grealish or a Callum McGregor this season – the types of players who can drop a shoulder, go past three or four and then rifle something in from 35 yards – but he’s delighted with the lads we have, their strengths and what they are doing for us at the moment.

‘They’re the cards we got and we’re absolutely making the most of it and I’m absolutely delighted with the bunch, I really am.’

A telling thing for Derry though is just how far we have come in recent times, pointing out where the club were when he joined and the way we are playing now and grinding out points even when we clearly aren’t at our best.

A big thing for that defensive strength now, is that Derry says everybody in the team knows their job exactly and they are doing it and even though we were tight defensively, and got the clean sheet he just feels it was a shame we didn’t get that bit of luck at the other end to turn it into three points.
