Notts County’s impressive start to the league 1 season continued at the weekend, but we had to be content with a home draw.

It was a frustrating afternoon at Meadow Lane on Saturday for Notts County against Oldham Athletic, although Oldham probably had the better of the chances really in the 0-0 draw.

It wasn’t surprising that there wasn’t much between the sides overall, in the first half alone there were little clear-cut chances for either.

Oldham’s Conor Wilkinson had the best of the visitors second half chances, putting one effort wide before ‘keeper Roy Carroll kept out another of his efforts.

Zeli Ismail, who has made the step-up this season to sign on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers after impressing in league 2 on loan with Burton Albion last term, went on a good run but couldn’t hit the target with his effort.

The last word came from Wilkinson but Carroll was again at his best to deny him in injury-time as it ended nil-nil.

After the game boss Shaun Derry told BBC Radio Nottingham: ‘I think if we are honest we are a little bit disappointed with ourselves, but three draws in a week, If you’d have asked me before them I’d have snapped your hand off.

‘We don’t have a Jack Grealish or a Callum McGregor – someone who can produce magic from nowhere this season. We are were we are and I am delighted with the boys so far this season.’
