Manager Shaun Derry has said he’s happy with how the players performed and the determination they put into the draw with Sheffield United.

Speaking to the Official Site following the one all draw, the gaffer explained that he was pleased with how we had battled back and shown a response following the loss to Yeovil Town last weekend.

‘It was a fantastic response from a major disappointment last week. The guys, I keep saying the same things, but they’re just brilliant to work with and I thought they really adapted to the system. We changed it up at one point after 15-20 minutes and restricted Sheffield United to half chances, we just couldn’t hold on.’

On loan winger Stephen McLaughlin did of course have the opportunity to put us two goals clear in the game, but the gaffer wasn’t going to criticise him for that because he knows how good a side United are, so whilst it’s a shame we didn’t pick up all three points, he was just going to focus on the positives.

‘The difference is they took their chance when it came, but Stephen’s been brilliant. At 1-0 up you get that chance and you want to put it away, we all wanted him to but it just didn’t happen. We dug in and we held on and I would have taken a point before we came here.’
