Manager Shaun Derry has described the performance against Gillingham last weekend as an immense showing from the lads.

County now sit seven games unbeaten in League One this season and we have registered back to back victories following the game that we had to work extremely hard in where Shaun Harrad gave us a first half lead, and goalkeeper Roy Carroll won us the other two points with a penalty save late on in the game.

Speaking to the Official Site after watching us keep our sixth clean sheet of the season and move ourselves up to 8th in the table, a happy and proud Derry explained.

‘It’s been a great week, it’s difficult to get back to back wins at any level, and to get a home win is fantastic. I’ve got a lot of people to thank, all the lads were immense and we got the win that I thought we deserved.’

Derry went on to credit the performance of the players and also picked out Carroll for special praise following his exploits in the game, calling him the best goalie in League One.

‘I’m really proud to be their manager. We are on a great run and it’s so important to do so. It will end, so if and when that happens we need to start another.’

With Scunthorpe up next in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy the gaffer also said that he wanted to see our current streak continue, because we are taking the JPT seriously and he wants to see us have a good cup run this season.

‘We will be taking Tuesday seriously, 100%. We don’t want this run to stop, a win breeds further confidence and the game enables all the lads to feel part of it. We’ve looking at Tuesday with a serious hat on, we are going there to win it.’
