Reports in the national press have linked former Manchester City and Liverpool midfielder Did Hamann who was released by the Blues in the summer.

The reports suggest that Hamann is wanted by Sven Goran-Eriksson in some form of coaching role. This would be quite a coup for County and add to the high profile management team.

Hamann who started his professional career at Bayern Munich as a 16 year old in 1989 but his career really took off when he moved to the ‘former’ Barclays Premier League side Newcastle United in 1998. This was soon followed by a move to Mersey giants Liverpool in 1999 where he had a hugely successful time including a big part in that memorable 2005 Champions League final against AC Milan in Instanbul.

He came on and along with Steven Gerrard helped to overturn a 0-3 deficit to take the final to a penalty shoot out and we all know the outcome of that.

Should he come to Meadow Lane then Vital Notts County have no doubt he would be an inspirational player/coach and another statement of intent by Munto and the County Board.
