Preston goalkeeper Iain Turner scored from inside his own box to help Preston on to a 2-0 win over Notts County at Deepdale on Saturday.

It was Preston`s third win on the bounce and the goal knocked the stuffing out of County who, up until the 83rd minute, looked like they had done enough to earn what would have been a good away point.

The 83rd minute was the turning point for County because that`s when Brian McLean powered home a header into the top corner of the net, from a corner.

And any hope of a County comeback were dashed when Turner let fly with a huge kick, which bounced over Stuart Nelson and into the net with just four minutes left on the clock

The home side had a strong penalty claim turned down on 15 minutes when Mellor was blocked by Krystian Pearce after a defensive mix-up but the referee said nothing doing

Notts County keeper Nelson made a fine save from a volley sent in by Jamie Proctor.
