Port Vale are looking to keep Notts County starlet Liam Chilvers for a little longer than first thought.

The defender has been at Vale Park since September and has not missed a game for the Valiants. He has also impressed manager Micky Adams who would love to see him in Vale`s colours for the rest of the current season.

His three month initial loan spell comes to an end this weekend.

‘He has been a tremendous professional while he has been at this football club,’ manager Micky Adams told his club’s official website.

‘We will be talking to Liam, his agent and Notts County to see if we can progress it further in terms of trying to keep him for the second half of the season.

‘We will find out what Notts County’s thoughts are because the parent club always hold all the cards, it depends what they want to do with him.

‘I think he has got better since he has been here.

‘He looks a bit sharper. match fitter, his game is up to speed and I have been pleased with the way he has defended – which is the most important thing.’
